CAMPAIGN GUIDELINES

  1. Formal campaigns should be prepared for those interested in running for President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, Reporter/Historian, and Parliamentarian.
  1. The following items must be submitted to the State Chairperson by the early registration deadline (February 8, 2008):
    • Letter of recommendation from a school administrator
    • Application form
    • Adviser to a State Officer Guideline form
    • Wyoming FBLA Code of Conduct form
    • School transcript
    • Web Site Permission For

    Forms needed are in the Wyoming FBLA State Handbook or in the State Officer Campaign Handbook. Please see your adviser or check the web site for these forms.
  1. Candidates and campaign managers must attend a meeting on Thursday prior to the Opening Session. Please check the agenda for the time of this meeting.
  1. No campaigning can begin prior to the introduction of candidates at the Opening Session on Thursday.
  1. All campaign materials must be kept in the designated campaign area. No materials will be allowed outside of the campaign area.
  1. All candidates will be provided one 6-foot table and two chairs.
  1. The campaign area must be cleaned by all candidates and campaign managers prior to leaving the conference.
  1. During the Campaign Session on Thursday evening, the campaign manager may give a one-minute speech introducing the candidate.
  1. During the Campaign Session on Thursday evening, the candidate should give a speech not to exceed three minutes stating his/her goals if elected.
  1. During the Campaign Session on Thursday evening, each candidate will be asked to answer an impromptu question after all speeches are complete.
  1. During the Candidate Interviews with Voting Delegates on Friday, each candidate may be asked questions by the voting delegates for five minutes. The State Chairperson will monitor questions to see that they are appropriate. Candidates will be sequestered until their five-minute session is over.
  1. Any member interested in being the Parliamentarian must register to take the Parliamentary Procedure written test.

FAILURE TO ADHERE TO THESE GUIDELINES MAY RESULT IN THE DISQUALIFICATION OF A CANDIDATE!
